Located 80 miles southeast of the state's Twin Cities, Minneapolis and St. Paul, Rochester is just 35 miles southwest of Lake Pepin and the Mississippi River and 30 miles west of Whitewater State Park, with its bluffs and clear trout streams. The city is filled with several shopping areas, including the Galleria downtown and an ever-growing mall, featuring over 100 stores. Many of the schools and parks maintain outdoor skating rinks in the winter, and if that isn't enough, Rochester is home to two indoor ice arenas, not to mention many swimming pools, soccer, baseball and softball fields, gymnasiums, tennis courts and volleyball centers.
